Magnetic Resonance Examinations (MRI)

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), also called Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), is a procedure that uses a strong magnetic field, radio waves as well as computers to diagnose various conditions of the human body.

The MRI exam can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and is a non-invasive way for the doctor to examine organs, soft tissues and the bone system.

The MRI examination is of several types:

  • Brain MRI;
  • MRI of the spine;
  • Abdominal MRI;
  • Cardiac MRI;
  • Musculoskeletal MRI;
  • Thoracic MRI;
  • Pelvic and Gynecological MRI;
  • Breast MRI;
  • Urological MRI;
  • Oncological MRI;
  • Angiographic studies type angio-MRI.

The benefits of an MRI type procedure are that the patient is not exposed to harmful radiation, it can be applied to all age groups, it allows very precise images to be obtained, it is effective in identifying a large number of conditions or diseases, and it allows the doctor access to certain areas that cannot be investigated using another procedure.
